Day in Jerusalem

No visit to Israel is complete without spending at least a day in Jerusalem, the capital city of Israel. Jerusalem is one of the oldest cities in the world, where Judaism, Islam and Christianity cross paths and live side by side. I like to wander the streets of Jerusalem while examining the three religions and their connections, visiting historical sites as well as current sites carrying political importance and baggage. We will visit the Temple Mount where we will see the Al-Aqsa Mosque, holiest site for Islam in Israel, and the Dome of the Rock, the spot from which prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven, spoke to God, and came back with instructions consisting some of the basic principles of Islam.
We will talk of the Jewish Temple that was built here 2000 years ago, and continue to the Western Wall, holiest Jewish site. We will visit the Western Wall Tunnels and explore the roots of Jerusalem.
We will have lunch in a local restaurant, and then follow the Via Dolorosa (14 Stations of the Cross) all the way to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher where Jesus was crucified, buried and resurrected.
Later we will visit interesting galleries and businesses in the old city, such as an old photographer's studio, a small-scale home-factory that produces tahini (ground sesame paste), and a jeweler creating jewelry made of antique coins and roman glass found in archeological sites in Jerusalem and surroundings.
We will end the day in Jerusalem's variegated market and last but not least a panoramic view of the new city from the Jaffa gate.

Day in the Galilee

The Galilee might be the most beautiful part of Israel!
An hour away from Tel-Aviv is the hilly region of the Galilee, bordering Lebanon from the north, and Carmel mount with the city of Haifa on the south, the Mediterranean sea on its west, and the lake of Galilee, Kinneret, on the east.
The Galilee inhabits the entire ethnic variety of Israel: Jews, both secular and ultra orthodox, Muslims, Christians, Bedouins, Druze, Circassians etc.
I live in the Galilee and therefore I know it as the back of my hand. The following is a possible one day tour in the Galilee that could be adjusted according to the client's will.
We will start our day in the lake of Galilee, where we will see some of the main Christian sites including Capernaum, the city of Jesus, where Jesus walked on water, and mount of Beatitudes where we will enjoy a marvelous overlook of the sea of Galilee and visit a beautiful church built where Jesus preached to many of his followers. We will continue on to a local Arabic restaurant where we will eat an authentic fresh Galilean meal.
We will continue to the ancient city of Tzippori, where we will see how a roman city was built 1700 years ago, as well as some of the most beautiful mosaics in Israel, and visit an ancient synagogue where Jewish people once worshiped.
Next stop – Acco! Also know as Acre, the city has two levels: above the ground we will find the old city with its mosques, synagogues, churches, street markets, khans and a beautiful port; under the ground exists an entire crusader city containing streets, knight halls, a market, and even a sewage system. We will conclude the day with a glass of wine on top of the walls surrounding the city viewing the bay, and return to the hotel.
We could start this tour from Haifa, Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv or any other location in the north of Israel.
